MWC-CUSA Merger Needs To Pick Up Steam Again

This is the best possible scenario for the teams remaining in the MWC and for CUSA to have a seat at the table under the current format. We don't know where or when the next realignment will find us, but I have to think the MWC is holding on for dear life right now and CUSA would be a good dance partner to attain an automatic BCS birth. Both commissioners need to work quickly to see if this can be done.

I don't want a merger. I want a new conference composed of the best of both.

Yeah, but it seems more likely that football is going the way of the 16 team super-conference.

A merger might not be a bad thing but remember to date CUSA has not lost a single team. There is speculation about UTEP but how much of that was from there perspective that if the MWC could stay completely intact with the addition of Boise it had a decent chance of becoming an AQ? I like CUSA as there are geographicaly close schools and the level of competition is such where I think we could legitamitly come to dominate it like Boise did with the WAC. If we do that we will be a perenial top 15 team and get BCS births every few years. That sounds pretty attractive to me.

Agree....we are now TCU and Boise...

Play in the region, win every game much easier road than team from BCS....

Recruit on the fact that you can play close to home in great facilities and a chance to go to huge game every couple of years

"merger" in what sense? The MWC is out to destroy the WAC but probably realizes they can't do the same to CUSA. Any so called "merger" is probably as much about protecting bowl bids for our teams than anything else. We will likely see CUSA west teams matched up against MWC programs in future bowls.
