SMU...a little this and that

• This game is SMU’s school-record 12th televised game this season. The previous record for TV appearances
was nine back in 2007.
• SMU is a young team in 2010 as just four of the 22 starters are seniors.
• The 2010 season marks the 75th anniversary of SMU’s first National Championship (1935).

As you can see by the last note, the national title is listed in the press notes, which is where I copied and pasted it.

Also, I guess I had not really realized that four of our 22 listed starters are seniors. Whoa!
It's coming. This offense may drive me nuts -- like that 3rd and 7 35-yard completion to Cole Beasley in the second half against ECU that led to a score (low-percentage play  ) but it's coming.

Since the start of the 2009 season, SMU is 15-10, 12-4 in CUSA, and owns wins over Nevada-Reno, ECU(2), Tulsa, Rice(2), and WSU. That is called positive, tangible progress.

i think this record needs to be qualified by the fact that there are so many more networks and specialty channels devoted to only college sports nowadays

Should be 2 wins over Tulsa

Including the Metrosports broadcasts is pure stat-padding (and somewhat embarrassing).

Many of us remember our 1 or perhaps 2 games a year on Raycom, a network that had little reach.

Now we have 4 nationally televised games on ESPN/ESPN2 - networks that EVERY major cable and sat provider has.

Compare that to the 2 games that TCU has had on the same network this year. They will obviously get one more big time Nat. TV game in their BCS game.
