Observers said Gee's comments fueled the perception that the so-called power conferences suffer from arrogance. It also was noted that according to Jeff Sagarin's computer ratings, Ohio State's strength of schedule, rated No. 64 in college football's top level, was comparable to Boise State (62) and TCU (76).

Gee told the Dispatch he has since decided, "I need to keep my mouth closed."

"I'm very blessed to have the best athletic director and best football coach in the country," Gee said, the newspaper reported. "They run the athletic program and I run the university, and I should have stayed out of there. What I should do is go over to the surgical suites and get my foot extricated from my mouth."

As for the real Little Sisters of the Poor -- a Roman Catholic women's religious order serving the elderly -- Gee said he had reached out to one of the order's homes in Ohio.

"I sent a [personal] check to the Mother Superior up there and invited her to a ballgame," he said, according to the report.

That is really rich and hilarious.

I'm not so sure...see below.

Big 10 Notable Non-Conference Wins
Illinois - Northern Illinois
Indiana - None
Iowa - Iowa State (5-7)
Michigan - UConn & Notre Dame
Mich State - Notre Dame
Minnesota - None
Northwestern - None
Ohio State - Miami
Penn State - None
Purdue - None
Wisconsin - Arizona State (5-6)

I count 7 notable OOC wins and 2 of those are against teams with losing records.

Compare with Mountain West
Air Force - Navy & Army
BYU - Washington (5-6)
Colo St - None
New Mexico - None
SDSU - None
TCU - SMU, Baylor & Oregon State (5-6)
Utah - Pitt and Iowa State (5-7)
Wyoming - Toledo

I count 9 notable OOC wins with 3 against teams with losing records.

I guess we'll find out in the Rose Bowl if it is Wisconsin and TCU.

I guess we will...point is 1 game is a tossup...play a team 10 times and we will see....

Do I think TCU can play with Wisco for 1 game, sure, but I think SMU could as well...

But if you made TCU play the schedule of a big 10 team, with injuries and away games they would be northwesterm

You won't find a more ardent supporter of the Big 10 than me. I'm completely in line with your thinking.

The TCU fans have admitted that since they know they are going to a BCS conference (for now, anyway) that they don't have to be 12-0. They can do what UConn is doing and still go.

Will moving to the Big East give the program a real clear chance to compete for the national title like they could now? Time will tell.

I would argue that some of those teams (Iowa and Penn State) are overrated and don't play/beat anyone of note OOC. Most of their wins are against poor to average teams like Illinois, Indiana, Purdue, Michigan, Minnesota and Northwestern). Are Wisco, OSU and Mich State good teams? Sure but I could argue that all they have done is beat up on weak OOC teams and weak conference mates.

Just like Utah and BYU were overrated at the start of the year.

You could make the case that the Moutain West was TCU and 8 guys named Herb.

Sure you can but I can also make the case that there are 3 good teams in the Big 10 and they haven't beaten anyone other than weak Big 10 teams and a bunch of MAC opponents.
