Found it interesting in reading the press conference transcript that SMU will not be practicing at Ford but rather at a site to be determined in Ft. Worth. I understand this but had not considered it before now. I did anticipate the team would be staying at a hotel somewhere probably in Ft. Worth.

Yeah, I read that too. JJ seems to like it.

JONES: Well, it’s fun. Anytime you depart and go somewhere together as a team, it’s great for the bonding, it’s great for the chemistry, the camaraderie. That’s why I think it’s mandatory that even before a game, even home games, you stay in a hotel. It’s what the game is all about, about togetherness, those types of things.

Even though we’re going to Fort Worth, it’s an opportunity to do the schedule we would have if we were practicing right here in our own stadium. It will be a fun time for us.

I saw that they said SMU would be practicing in FW, but it also said that the location for SMU's practices would be determined next week. So maybe practicing at home is still part of the discussion. If staying at a hotel is important to JJ, the team could still stay at a hotel for a week and practice at home.

I like it give the kids a "bowl experience" instead of another 3 weeks of the season.

all the pregame festivities and events are in Ft Worth too so it doesn't make sense to stay or practice in Dallas and drive the team over to Ft. Worth every nite.

EVERYTHING is scheduled and planned for Ft Worth, even hotels stay, practices, dinners, civic events, charity functions, etc...so don't even think that 'home' is Dallas..only the game is in Dallas.

I really likeit that our team is getting a 'bowl' trip. It should be a blast.

Just to clarify, as I understand it, this is for bowl week practices only. The team will practice at SMU until they "leave" for the bowl game.

Only Amon Carter could get psyched about a week in Ft Worth. Nice that the guys get a little trip but sequestered in Frogville is punishment, not a reward. Five star hotel in Cowtown is like Reno without the girls, mountains or gambling.

I was thinking the same thing, though a win will have made it all worth it.

Yeah after reading a few of players FB statuses, they are none too pleased with having to go to Fart Warth.

I don't believe the team is going to FW until the 26th. So 4 days of practice over there at most.

Considering the fact that most of them got to go to Hawaii last year, can you blame them?

I think the players will get over it, especially once they get over there and star getting treated well by the bowl people. (I'm assuming the AFB does a good job of this. Most bowls do.)

I assume TCU's facilities are available for practice? How ironic would it be for SMU to be using TCU's practice fields, indoor facility, etc. I suppose the only other option in FW would be a high school practice field or stadium.
