I would not make much of this statement. The outside world would think him insane if he stated "we took Peruna, the school's only mascot, along with a pair of larger horses which are not actually mascots but that just come to games."

It was a simplified answer for people that do not care about SMU mascot politics. To make something out of this would be unfair.

While this is off topic, I was amazed how inarticulate both Orsini and Jones came off in comparison to the representatives from the USMA .

I like the way JJ speaks. He comes across as honest and forthright rather than "slick". He's a coach, not a "suit". It's nice to have a leader with a little individuality and character.
