Good read about Thad's struggles to get Pony Excess made. Good for you man. I've seen a few of my doc projects get shot down in the last couple of years. Your story gives me hope.
A tale of Excess and redemption

None of ESPN's collaborators, however, put more of himself or herself into their work than did Matula, 32, whose film Pony Excess, about the Wild West era of SMU football that culminated in the NCAA's "death penalty" in 1987, airs at 8 p.m. Saturday on ESPN after the Heisman Trophy presentation.
During the two years he worked on Pony Excess, "I went through times when I was two and three months behind in my rent," Matula said last week. "I was getting eviction notices, and my power was cut off."
It's a familiar picture, that of the struggling artist forging on against the odds, but a particularly odd one in this case since the story Matula wanted so desperately to tell was that of the cash-soaked days of Mustang Mania, when SMU fielded the best college football team money could buy.
