Can't believe they would turn over a job like Florida to a coordinator, no matter how big of a "hotshot" the guy is. I expected someone with head coaching experience.

the foundation is crumbling in Austin. Davis out (he needed to go 8 years ago), Muschamp out, losing a couple of position coaches. that's a lot of reloading to do before signing day in Feb, and a whole new offense & defense to put in place in 1 semester.

Muschamp has accepted per ESPN, and he was the only one interviewed by UF as well.

Interesting hire, I wonder what he'll do with the offense. Could the spread option be leaving Gainesville already?

My question is do any of UT's recruits waiver? If any were recruited by Muschamp I'd at least give them a call and see if they want to try building SMU into the next BCS buster if I were on the SMU coaching & recruiting staff

My memory is fuzzy on how good a DC Ron Zook was before Florida promoted him to head coach.

But anyway...does this move (coupled with the recruiting difficulties that come along with it) pretty much signal the end of the head coach in waiting designation?

If he was the only one interviewed what happened with having to show some diversity in hiring. I thought you had to show at least an effort to interview minorities.

Boise State's Chris Peterson declined the offer.

It's one thing to talk about hiring a proven winner. It's entirely another to land said winner when said winner has just been given and raise and the alumni are kissing their [deleted].

I expect this to be a good hire; let's not forget he now brings Texas recruiting contacts to supplement the Florida talent pool
