108 Years of Ineptitude

the two schools in our state which have decided to take a high moral ground and attempt to play Division 1A athletics under their own rules are SMU and Rice. Rice has not been to a Bowl Game in 44 years, has not been to the NCAA Tourney in 34 years, SMU hasn't been to bowl game 19 years and hasn't been to an NCAA Tourney in 11 years. That's 108 reasons why SMU's Athletic Model is the foundation of the problem.

Stallion,

Stop bringing irrefutable facts to the debate, it only muddles things up.

Want More Facts?????

Since returning from the Death Penalty some 16 years ago, only three D1-A schools have worst winning records in football than SMU.

Those schools are in no particular order:

BUFFALO
TEMPLE
KENT STATE

To be fair to Temple and Kent State, they have Basketball programs we could only dream of.

Conclusion – We are pathetic at what we do.
Solution – Fire Dement!!!!!!!!!!!!!

since I am not "in the know" about this stuff - I have this question. Why are people banging Copeland, the coaches, etc. Why are there no complaints at the Board of Trustee/Presidental levels of the school about this issue. If tcu proves anything, it is that enrollments, media attendtion, and donations increase when the sports teams are good -

Gee thanks, Stallion, I don't know how I could have made it through the weekend without that bit of information. Staying the high moral ground may be the way it SHOULD be in collegiate sports, but I think we would all acknowledge it ain't getting our bread buttered.

I usually enjoy reading your recruiting posts, because you do seem to have some good sources and you stay on top of things. And I don't even mind you being opinionated; aren't we all? But how many times can you make the same point? If I were a judge, I would say, "You've made your point, Counselor, move on." Serious question, no flame or insult intended (and don't tell me it won't happen, I agree, this is strictly hypothetical): Bennett recruits some 3 & 4 star HS players, the new coaches work out great and in 2 years SMU goes 9-3 with a win in a Tier II bowl. Would you be: a) Happy that the Ponies seem to finally be enjoying success? or b) Highly upset that it was done with precious little contribution from JUCOs and without total adoption of your model?

Thank you Stallion. You are one of the very few who make sense on this board.
