Re: You knew it was coming: 'black out' for AFBSMU Calls For Bowl "Blackout"
Fans Asked To Show Support For U.S. Military Fans Asked To Show Support For U.S. Military, Wear Black Dec. 24, 2010 DALLAS (SMU) - As a tribute to the Armed Forces and the U.S. Military Academy, SMU is calling for a "Blackout" and asking fans to wear black for the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl. Known as the Black Knights, Army will be taking on SMU in the post-season bowl on Dec. 30 at 11 a.m. at Gerald J. Ford Stadium. "While we recognize that they may be our opponent for this game, we want to show our thanks and appreciation to the Armed Forces and the U.S. Military Academy and its student-athletes for their service to our great nation," said SMU Director of Athletics Steve Orsini. "This will serve as a tribute to service men and women across the globe for all their sacrifices to protect our freedoms." Black SMU apparel is on now sale at the SMU Barnes & Noble Bookstore (3060 Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, TX 75205) and online from TeamFanShop here. SMU also announced that as a special tribute to legendary Mustang quarterback and television broadcaster Don Meredith, who died Dec. 5, the Mustangs will wear a special "17" sticker on their helmets for the game. Meredith was a two-time All-America selection (1958 & 1959) on the Hilltop, setting a Southwest Conference record with a 69.6 completion percentage in 1957. Re: You knew it was coming: 'black out' for AFBThanks for the link
Re: You knew it was coming: 'black out' for AFBGlad the 17 sticker movement was successful. Was hoping for that or one that said 'Don'
Re: You knew it was coming: 'black out' for AFBglad to see the bookstore was plugged in the press release.
they'll probably sell out their limited supply by 10pm. how long can 10 shirts last? Derail the Frogs!
Re: You knew it was coming: 'black out' for AFBThink June is gonna let raplh down?
Re: You knew it was coming: 'black out' for AFBi would find it more surprising if we didn't wear black at this point.
Derail the Frogs!
Re: You knew it was coming: 'black out' for AFBAnd then I guess we can roll the black jerseys out again vs navy for the same 'tribute'
Re: You knew it was coming: 'black out' for AFB
Maybe that is when we will get the old Pony Express half jerseys since Navy is called the Middies. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: You knew it was coming: 'black out' for AFBWell, I was certainly proved wrong, I seriously didn't think this would ever happen. I have multiple friends in the service and feel like I am just as thankful for their sacrifice as any other American, but I feel like we are taking things a little far. I thought the point of a football game was friendly competition and to chear on your team, not to dress up like your opponent.
I will be wearing red to the game.
Re: You knew it was coming: 'black out' for AFBI just bought a new red sweatshirt especially for this game. Oh well, like Hilltop I am wearing red
Re: You knew it was coming: 'black out' for AFBOne of my cousins went to west point and is going to the game and 3 others were/are in the army. I amwearing red & blue
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally
Re: You knew it was coming: 'black out' for AFB
