Mustangs to Wear Army's Uniforms

Postby Bergermeister » Mon Dec 27, 2010 9:20 am

In an unprecedented move, the SMU football team will wear its opponent's uniforms in a show of support for the Army Black Knights. All fans are asked to dress in the opponent's colors and cheer for the Black Knights. In addition, Peruna will receive ear extensions for the game and the Mustang Band will delve into the cedar chest to pull out the 40s era military-style uniforms for its halftime salute to Gen. John J. Pershing. This is considered to be a "practice run" for next season's opener at College Station when the Mustangs will honor the Aggie team and the Corps of Cadets by wearing maroon pants and helmets and sponsoring a "Maroon Out" at Kyle Field. The team also plans to sport a purple pony on its helmets when the team travels to Ft. Worth for the game against TCU. Peruna will sport a new billygoat costume against Navy and the SMU fight song will be changed to "Anchors Aweigh" for the home game against the Midshipmen. Updates as they are made available by the athletic director's office... (as soon as the head coach tells him what to say)

Can't we just wear the Hawaii colors and get it over with?

Are we seriously having a discussion about what outfits we will wear on gameday? Why don't you girls get over to the Chanel board where you can find other women to whine with?

We should wear what makes the players and any potential recruits happy. End of story.

Let's see...wearing their own colors, the Hawaii team lost their bowl game...sounds like a winner color combo.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

How about the team make the fans happy and win the [deleted] game for us. I guess our financial support has little real value to these kids. By all means, let's make these little darlings happy.

Those little darlings are the ones that have to suit up and play. If we did, we spill our precious little bloody marys all down the front of our Brooks Brothers seersucker slacks.

Then that is what they need to do.

I suggest then that you should dress more appropriately for the occasion.

Finally, some sensible satire in this colorful sea of inexplicable senselessness. Well crafted, 'meister!
