Has anyone heard this?

Talk on the streets here in Hawaii is that June Jones WANTS the 49er job. Whether or not they will offer it to him is unknown.

I can see it happening because of JJ's past connection with Bill Walsh. Plus he likes making winners out of losers.

Has anyone heard this in Dallas?

interesting.

I guess that answers the question as to which NFL job would be appealing.

About as short a flight as you can get to Honolulu from an NFL city

Would be the most out of left field NFL coaching hire I can ever remember.

June Jones Career NFL Record: 22-36

He runs an offense that is not considered sound against NFL defenses. He hasn't been involved with the NFL in more than a decade.

Did the run and shoot flop in the NFL already ? Or did he not get his class and a half.

Don't let JJ read this. If there's anything that JJ likes to do, is to prove people wrong about his offense. He claims New England runs a portion of it right now.

Always heard his dream job was in San Francisco or Seattle.

the Colts have a lot of run & shoot principles in their offense. At least up until Tom Moore left.

Which reminds me...someone should have Kyle watch Peyton and count. One one thousand..two one thousand...throw.

Art Shell's 2nd Raiders stint, Joe Gibbs 2nd Washington stint, Lane Kiffin's Raiders stint was and the 49ers pulled a similar move with the Dennis Erickson hire in 2003.

Was his losing record more dependent on lack of talent or the run and shoot? You can't simply look at his NFL record and say his offense doesn't work...it was very effective in Houston (remember Warren Moon) and Detroit. He inherited losing programs at both Atlanta and San Diego. His offense in Atlanta (before the entire team went south in Glanville's final years, was good). Pretty shallow (non-existent) analysis by Stallion...

to be fair, JJ was only in Houston for two seasons, one of which was strike-shortened 1987. He was Glanville's QB coach. The Oilers were, however, #2 in points in 88.

Todd Dodge is a good enough coach to where he should be on somebody's staff. One of the best teachers of the quarterback position I've seen. And I'd put him right up there with Jones.

The difference is that June had street cred and a track record when he came here. Dodge did not but that didn't mean he couldn't coach.

He simply wasn't ready for the UNT job. He should have gone to Texas to be an assistant and then grow to the point where he was ready for a D1 job. But I can't fault him for taking a D1 job if approached and offered.

What would you do if UNT offered you $265,000 per year to run its program and you thought you could handle it? He took a risk. It didn't work. Better to have tried and failed than to never have tried at all.

we aint losing JJ to the NFL. He is not a candidate for NFL. If he wants to put on the pressure he can do it by threatening to go to different college deal.
