Why call the last timeout with 3:45 left on 3rd down? The defense was rolling, so you break their momentum and give Army a chance to dial something up when you only need to stop one more play?

Wait until the next play and stop it before the punt. You still have 3 minutes left if the defense makes the stop. Or if they get the first down, you have it left for the next set of downs and can still force them to make another first down.

This is not a new problem

Poor clock management has a been a hallmark of Jones' tenure. A lot of it has stemmed from an offense that has no hurry-up element.

nor the 1st down timeout early in the 3rd Q with SMU needing a comeback down 16-0. You know I never noticed this issue until someone mentioned it a few weeks ago but June is very careless with his TOs.

It really irks me when we have a coach and agent talking up black outs, black jerseys, Maryland, academic standards and facilities when we should be preparing for the game. Then we have to eat poor game management, not going for after two the first td (knowing that we would be going into the breeze in the fourth quarter), ill prepared offensive players, etc.

This team regressed as the season went on and today's loss was really inexcusable.

Not going for 2 after the first TD just doesn't make sense to me... If you convert, you are down by a single score with the opportunity to tie the game on the next possession. If you miss, you go for 1 next TD and are down 3 with a chance to tie the game on the FG. I think the risk reward was there on going for the tie rather than the win on the long fg into the wind. With Army running the ball, you had to figure possessions were going to be at a minimum with only a little over a qtr to play. Poor coaching decision in my opinion.

Totally agree WAB...June has a tendency for playing it safe in situations like that.
