The good news is the defense keeps playing it better every time.

If you go back further into JJ's Hawaii days, you will find that JJ NEVER had any success against teams that run any type of option game or a power running team. I don't think JJ has ever beaten TCU & Rice when they ran that type of offense.

We (Hawaii) seemed to have fixed that problem since JJ left with wins over Navy, Army, Nevada and Utah St. It's the big power running teams like Wisconsin, USC & Colorado that we are having problems with.

Hardly any teams that have run the Run and Shoot have ever had success in stopping the option-its one of the reasons I'm not a big fan of the Run and Shoot. We held both Army and Navy well below average though. I suggest recruiting better athletes on Defense

I have an idea.......how about we stop scheduling option teams.

What are the pro's to scheduling an option team other than the opportunity to play against service academies?

Not surprising, the defense gets exposed being out there so much because the R&S is feast or famine. Though here the defense hasn't been losing these games against triple option teams.

This topic has been examined a few times at length on this board. No real pros for playing them and a lot of cons.

I thought we would blow them out, I really did. but it was painfully obvious that their style shortened the game and took our offense out of any sort of rythm. the disappointing thing to me is they beat us up and were way too effective on the blitz and we couldnt really beat it.

The defense held the triple option to NINE points! This one is on the offense committing 4 turnovers, giving up 7 points, and special teams leaving 6 out there (although an argument could be made that we had no business attempting that last one.)

Yes, it seemed like the defense was getting gashed, but I don't see how they could do a whole lot better.

I watch Hawaii when I can and have noticed that. I enjoy listening to espn 1420 for their games.
