Anyone know the status of Josh LiRibeus? Is he on track to regain eligilibty?
Also, with Fleps and Yenga graduating, who are the leading contenders to step into those LB spots?
Thanks

Moreland starts as a freshman on the outside. Maybe Bordano inside?

Cameron Rogers perhaps? He was listed at #2 behind Fleps
Braden Smith was Reed's backup
maybe we could get Zach Line to go iron man

I would expect for Bordano to be in the mix inside. Also June has mentioned moving some of the backup RB's to LB so maybe Pope and Fields to LB?

I know JJ likes to keep kids on offense if they have a knack for getting into the end zone. I am too lazy to look at Pope and Field's High school stats, but you have to assume that one of them stays on offense? Maybe KC will get some big PT next year

hard to imagine Fields as LB - that sounds goofy to me.

I don't remember what all the issues are/have been with LiRibeius, but is he still on scholarship or is he paying his own way at school now?

gostangs, I agree. Fields at LB does seem goof; however, it reminds of of some interesting position swaps from the past. If I'm not mistaken, Jerry Ball was recruited as a fullback out of high school and ended up as one of the all time great nose guards. So who knows - one has to assume the coaches have a feel for this type of thing.

and jerry hughes was a RB out of HS, and became an all-world d-end.

Im sure a lot of people thought Jerry Hughes moving to defense sounded a bit goofy too...but look how that turned out.
I am not trying to take anything away from Line as he had a great season...but I think we need to add a homerun threat at running back. Zack is a tough runner with outstanding vision, but has no breakaway speed. I am not saying he shouldnt be playing running back, but why not give Line 10 Carries and Fields 10 carries (assuming Fields picks up the pass protections by next season)
I would be interested to see if Z Line could play both ways and reduce his workload at running back by splitting carries with Fields.
I think Victor Jones could be in the hunt at inside linebacker.

Fields is probably going to have to show his blocking skills are as good as Zack's in order to split time with him in the back field on an equal basis. If the shoot portion of the RnS gets cranked up the RB doesn't have to be a home run threat. Zack has broken a few loose for long gains, but more importantly he keeps the sticks moving down the field and the DBs uncomfortable in their coverages.

I agree that Zach's blocking skills are likely to keep him in the offensive backfield. I think it was apparent last season when Zach got a lot of snaps from Shawnberry how important the blocking of the RB is to Jones.
