Some of these players only saw the field for a few plays this year:

Kevin Pope
Jeremy Johnson
Ben Gottschalk
Chris Parks

Probably would have been better not to have played them at all this year so they could have redshirted instead of wasting a year of eligibility.

I didn't understand why we burned some of these red-shirts, but we wouldn't burn Loftus'(kicker) redshirt when we couldn't hit field goals or get kickoffs past the 20....

didn't all of these guys appear in more than one game, except pope?

i'm too lazy to pull up the participation chart right now.

parks played in 8 games.

johnson played in 5.

I will never understand why we didnt burn Loftus redshirt considering the injuries in the kicking game.

To me pope was the only one that really would be considered wasted because I think he really did only play on 1 play. You might be able to argue the same for Johnson cause he really didnt make a difference at all on the field.

Parks and Gottschalk played on special teams a bunch if I remember correctly.
