Happy Birthday To A Great SMU Fan

Although still fighting some health issues it was great to see Ed "Big Tex" McDonald at the Bowl game last week. Today I would like to wish Tex a Happy Birthday and hope to see him at SMU games for many years to come.

Although being a "great SMU fan" and wearing a black jersey is contradictory, I will wish a Happy Birthday to a great wanna be SMU fan.

Please ditch the jersey, so we can promote you Tex.

My understanding is that the black jersey was not his idea and that he was a little put out about it at the game when all his friends were wearing real SMU colors. :)

Oh yeah...happy birthday dude.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
