Ponies from the past
Both members of SMU's fabled Pony Express backfield as well as their former quarterback were at SMU's Ford Stadium – named for the aforementioned Jerry Ford – last week to see SMU play Army in the Armed Forces Bowl.
SMU's Cotton Bowl-winning quarterback Lance McIlhenny tailgated before the game with Learfield Sports senior director Brad Thomas, inventor of the former SMU slogan Mustang Mania.
"Walking into the game, I ran into Craig James [half of the Pony Express] and his wife, Marilyn," Brad says. As Brad was leaving the campus, a car pulled up to him, the window rolled down and a man said, "What's up?" It was Eric Dickerson – the other half.
Also present at the game was Thaddeus Matula , director of ESPN's much talked about documentary, Pony Excess.

Saw that today, Thad has hit the big time. Soon we'll be be reading how he was seen at Chasen's with Suzanne Pleshette.

RE Tycoon, nobody mentions when you attend events because it's assumed that you already attend all the cool events. Therefore, the journalists want to report NEW news and dont mention you.

HB Pony Daughter and I were in lock step with the "mogul" on the Blvd. and no one mentioned I had flown into Dallas from socal just to watch the game either.
No enquiring minds I guess.
