Robinson To Play In NFL Players Association Game
Jones, Reinebold To Coach Team Nation

Jan. 11, 2011

SAN ANTONIO (SMU) - SMU wide receiver Aldrick Robinson, Head Coach June Jones and Assistant Coach Jeff Reinebold will all participate in the NFL Players Association Game at the Alamodome on Saturday, Feb. 5. Formerly known as The Texas vs. The Nation All-Star Challenge, the NFL Players Association Game will feature NFL draft-eligible senior college football players with connections to the state of Texas in an all-star game against players from all other states.

Robinson is coming off a season which saw him catch a school-record 14 TDs and notch 1,301 receiving yards, second-most ever in a season at SMU. The Waxahachie, Texas, native, who finished the 2010 season with touchdown grabs in eight straight games, will play for Team Texas and be coached by former Cowboy Bill Bates.

Former Houston Oiler and Atlanta Falcons head coach Jerry Glanville will coach Team Nation, while SMU Head Coach June Jones will serve as offensive coordinator and Assistant Coach Jeff Reinebold will coach the defensive line.

Over 400 players who have played in the NFL Players Association Game have gone on to sign NFL contracts over the game's four-year history. The 2011 event will be the first time the game has been played in San Antonio after spending its first four years in El Paso. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. CST.

So Reinebold will be coaching against ARob as he tries to score points with the NFL scouts? Doesn't that seem a bit counterproductive?

If Reinbold lines up any defensive linemen to cover AR, he should have a big day receiving. :D

so with JJ and Reinebold both in San Antonio for practice during the week of the game, I wonder who's going to man the signing day event? Dr Turner?

Maybe we could use it as an opportunity to welcome Sherwood back.

Good luck Al. Hopefully, he'll play the Hawaii Bowl and dominate the game. He was unstoppable. Great catch after great catch. Get 'em 24. Make us proud.
