Heard tonight a newly proposed rule on taunting that is supposed to pass. If a player is deemed to have celebrated excessively prior to scoring, the TD would be disallowed and a 15 yard penalty. Applies to both offensive and defensive players and anyone on the field, not just the person scoring.
Seems unbelievable that a rule like this could pass.

15 yard penalty is enough.....mrydel imo taking points off the board would be ridiculous. same folks that want this kind of bs probably cant stand that players have tats too they want everyone to be "Penn State" i dont have a tat and I like Penn State but I also like some renegade it'd be a boring world if some had their way

Funny you mention tats. The people talking about it said it would be like saying too many tats was a penalty and then having each official determine how many was too many. But I kept hearing that it is going to be passed.

Why not put them in the Penalty Box like in the NHL for the next series. Public scorn. I actually think it might work better

i think you are onto sometime. Make them give up the next three series of whichever they are (offense or defense). The worst thing you can do to a showboat is take his stage away.

One of the commentators mentioned making the player sit out the next game or even better making the coach be disqualified from the next game.
If this happens there will be big repercussions when some championship game is lost due to a penalty called on a player running down the field jumping up and down because his teammate is running an interception in for a touchdown.

I don't now why people think a game suspension penalty would be a deterrent. Look at how the NCAA handled misconduct this last post season. One guy's dad pimps him and nothing happens and the other guys sell stuff at a nice profit and nothing happens.

(To make Dutch and 94 happy...)
Taunting should be left to the band (especially old band people).....we are much better at informing the other team how worthless they are...
