I guess his health is up in the air? It's looked like in some recorded interviews that he was having some struggles. A lot of history there.

I hope it works out.

So now we have the SMU-Green Bay connection covered.

I have no idea who he is and what he does.I really don't keep up with the NFL. Heck, I didn't even watch the NFC and AFC championship games except for a play or two here or there.

Actually, I believe he was an undrafted free agent. But he was a hell of a college player.

He is most famous now as having given Brett Farve his ultimatum...give your commitment now or retire. Bret made his money after leaving and the Packers have a new Super Bowl quarterback. Seems to have worked out for eveyone but the Jets copying machine...ugh!

Thanks for that info. I don't recognize the name and had no idea of this connection.

Good gosh - you're telling me there are people on this forum that don't know who Forrest Gregg is? .. Or his connection to NFL Football, SMU and otherwise?
WOW

He's a legend and one of the toughest SOB's in NFL history

It's like the conversation I heard on Sunday watching football at a bar in the burbs - ".. that last play reminds me of the old days, like Joe Montana's days."

I almost choked on my beer.. Joe Montana was in the "old days" now

Made me think about how many people truly missed out on some good football - and more important to this board - how so many missed what SMU was in football. I know it's been mentioned many times on this board - but this thread and what I heard on Sunday has made it hit home even more.

Never let some basic reading comprehension get in the way of a good rant I guess?

Since I quoted the info about Thompson, that is the person I was talking about. I think we all know about Gregg. :D

Article in Denver Post today interviewing Gregg about the Super Bowl. He moved to Colorado Springs about ten years ago and lives there now. In a biography about Lombardi, the author stated that Gregg was the only player he ever coached that Lombardi was afraid of and would not get on him like he did the others.
