June Jones Super Bowl quote -- I call BS

I wonder which PR guy wrote this one up:

June Jones, SMU

"Since both a Steeler (wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders) and a Packer ( general manager Ted Thompson) are SMU alumni, I'm hoping the game can end in a tie. I don't want to pick one, but either way, an SMU alumnus is winning a Super Bowl ring for the second straight year (New Orleans Saints punter and SMU alumnus Thomas Morstead earned a ring last season)!"

Hmmm, who to cheer for, a player you personally coached the last two years or a front office guy who was on campus 35 years ago? Tough call.

Have you considered that June Jones and Ted Thompson's paths may have crossed many times in the past.

SMU football did not just start three years ago.

"Collegiately, Thompson was a three-year starter (1972-74) at linebacker and team captain (’74) for SMU. As a sophomore, he played under head coach Hayden Fry, and Phillips, his eventual pro coach, was defensive coordinator. He also served as the team’s placekicker as a senior. Following his football career, in the spring of ’75, he lettered as an outfielder for the Mustangs’ baseball team. He gained Academic All-Southwest Conference honors and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration."

Also you do not know what support Ted Thompson currently provides SMU including the athletic department. JJ did the wise thing in remaining neutral on the game.

Great quote. The others provide the usual prediction dribble.

BTW. Where was Patterson's prediction?

You have no idea how well Ted and June know each other; they are tight! If you get a chance, ask Adrian about the relationship between those two.

Good point, plus June is smart enough to always try to work the SMU angle, we win either way.

Who Cares? I imagine these guys get tired of being asked the same question all the time so they try to give different answers and then people with nothing better to do try to make something of it!
