Being discussed on sportsbybrooks so take it for what its worth. But it says the school is seriously mulling over adding football.

Pretty good match for the WAC, and would be an upgrade for UTA.

Guess they'd need to upgrade/expand their stadium

Do you really think the WAC will still be around by the time they were ready to compete?

Does anyone know if UTA still owns the football stadium or the Arlington ISD? Just curious.

I agree with the move, I just think the WAC should seriously consider becoming a FCS conference.

I am pretty sure that UTA still owns it. I think they still use it for track and field and I think that it still has mavericks on the endzones.

UTA owns it. There is an expansion plan - if it hasn't turned to dust. Several years ago, the student body voted a portion of their "fees" to go to the ressurection of the football program (which should have never been dropped). Obviously, that never happened. Other than the Athletic Director (Pete Carlon), the president of the university, the mens coaches and the womens coaches NOT wanting football, I cannot imagine what the hold-up is. That is one screwed up athletic program - if you can call it that.

Good thing we are finally making an effort to get our act together. Copeland era SMU would quickly get subjugated by at least one or two of these new DIA programs, as Rice will be.

They have the most ridiculous basketball arena ever. Gotta love the orchestra seating on one side.

Playing basketball in a music hall, with the court laid out on the stage seems like something out of the 50"s.

The changing of the mascot name signaled their demise and a speedy transition into obscurity. Remember the Arlington State College Rebels? Last football coach was renown high school coach and former SMU assistant Chuck Curtis.
