In the time leading up to spring practice, several members of the SMU football team gathered after conditioning workouts to get in some extra work. But things didn't go as planned for freshman wideout Larry Centers, Jr., who broke a bone in his thumb just days before starting his first spring workouts. Centers met with PonyFans.com to discuss how he hurt his thumb, what was done when he was on the operating table and his outlook for his recovery and return to the field.

Enjoy!

This sucks. I kept hearing really good things about him. Not just the work he has put in to get bigger, but also people saying that he had come a long way, making plays for the scout team offense. I was hoping to see him practice this spring.

But better now than in August — get better, Larry.
