Let's drop swim/dive, add back men's track. :)

Bulldoze the natatorium for IPF, keep the outdoor pool, add another women's sport.

Water Pony hates this :D

Solution:
1) Enclose A.R. Barr Pool w/ improvements.
2) Construct an indoor equine/football practice facility at Burleson Park. Should attract the
sorority girls in the area....call it the "Giddyup". :)
3) Install 18 hole putt putt golf course on Bishop and create coed short stroke team, (club sport
at first).

If anybody has any other suggestions lets hear 'em, ( besides I should take a hike )

On the roof of Moody, put a sand volleyball/bocce ball court. Why? Great view of downtown Dallas between bball periods, and Moody makes a great foundation for such a venue.

SMU used to have an 18 hole golf course on campus.

You laugh, but it has been discussed. I think it is supposed to be the cheapest sport to add and would be another step toward making SMU Title IX-compliant.

Making the swimming and diving teams compete in — and recruit to — Perkins Natatorium almost makes it seem like the athletic administration is trying to make those teams just quit. It's like the guy who wants a new girlfriend but doesn't have the juevos to dump the current one, so he acts cruel in the hope that she'll have a little bit of a spine and break up with him. The way the administration handcuffs the swimming and diving coaches is embarrassing.

As for the IPF, I'm told there are alums who could write enough checks to have it paid for by breakfast tomorrow. Does anyone really know what the hold-up is? If it's land, that can be remedied. If it's something else, it needs to be addressed immediately.

Not that it will ever happen -- I sure wouldn't want it to -- but in order to have an IPF in the spot where the natatorium is, you'd have to stretch the field west to east from Bishop to Ownby thereby removing not just the natatorium but the outdoor pool too.

I say use the intramural fields space for the IPF and allow shared usage.

And if there are girls playing on the sand volleyball court, the view from below gets better and better.

well if it's one that has a swimming facility that is not on top of the band hall that leaks into said band hall, probably not a bad idea
