Mike O'Guin injury update

O'Guin was injured Wednesday when he crumpled to the ground while rushing the passer in an 11-on-11 drill. He was carted off the field, but the severity of the injury was not immediately known.
O'Guin said Monday that he tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), lateral collateral ligament (LCL) and meniscus, and partially tore his medial collateral ligament (MCL). He said most of the swelling is gone, but that considerable discomfort remains. He is due to have surgery next Monday on his ACL, LCL and meniscus; because the MCL is only partially torn, he said he was told he won't have to have it surgically repaired.
O'Guin expressed understandable frustration over the injury, citing the fact that he had lost weight in his offseason conditioning workouts and felt he was in line to compete for the starting nose tackle position. But he was grateful to learn that he had not suffered any nerve damage, which he said was a concern early on.
He is not sure when he will be able to resume walking, but said he expects to start football-related drills in nine months to a year. O'Guin enrolled early in January 2010 and played in six games as a true freshman. He has not used a redshirt year.
