WHY? Northwestern made the trip to Dallas in a good bowl effort, with a wild comeback falling short, losing to Texas Tech. Conference USA gets the slot this year, and it'll either be SMU or Houston to keep the Texas crowd close.

I'm not sure if that bowl has been certified yet for next year-it was 1 of 2 that the NCAA needed more time to confirm. The Business Model may not be there now that the Big 12-2 can't fill its bowl affiliations
