Will FordJust heard Will Ford has been on campus talking to the staff about transferring here from Tech. Had offers from ou, tcu and others out of high school. Concerning that he quit his team this fall but not many chance to get a future NFL cornerback. Would be a huge addition of it happens
Re: Will FordIts nice to talk about this guy and the Arkansas guy and that Wake Forest WR and NCSU QB but does SMU even have a scholarship to give until December? The way the NCAA is now calculating that 28 signee limit makes me wonder because we only had 1 mid-term enrollee. Only 25 can enter this Fall. If we have room it might mean 2+ kids didn't qualify and so far I haven't heard 1 that didn't and good news on 2 or 3. Also, might be some room if there is a greyshirt. Guess we'll know at the end of the Spring term

Re: Will FordBTW Will Ford quit during Spring Practice not the season and has not yet redshirted so he could have 2 years left. At the time he left he had been working at least part time with Tech's first team Defense so he might not be the usual career benchwarmer. He had 14 tackles and an Int returned 27 yards last year

Re: Will FordTo make sure I understand what you're saying above, you haven't heard bad news on any of them, and you've heard good news on 2 or 3 others?
Just trying to clarify as the sentence is a little unclear. Thanks
Re: Will Fordyes no bad news-but remember you can't make a final decision on qualification under the NCAA sliding scale until the Final semester GPA is added to the equation.

Re: Will Ford
Pretty sure he started all year. Sorry that my comment about him quitting "last fall" could easily be interpreted as quitting during the season. He definitely quit AFTER the season, didn't know he made it all the way to spring practice...not really interested in the career benchwarmer from BCS teams (unless that's Texas or most SEC schools).
Re: Will Fordprety sure he didn't start significant games. There are a bunch of BCS benchwarmers that could excell at SMU right now. The talent level still is not that high. Its getting better and the incoming class is definitely a higher level but we aren't at that BCS talent level yet.

I smell some Optimism.....Think my seats are closer to yours now....
Re: Will FordFrom Tech press guide: "Played in four games (3 starts) making 14 tackles (10 solo) with one interception and broke up one pass on the season."

Re: Will FordI live in Lubbock and from what I have heard I don't know if we really want this guy. Team insiders say he has a lot of discipline problems "among other issues". I have also heard that he had assault charges brought against him by a former girlfriend.
Re: Will Ford
Well then, he would probably fit right in at U of Texas! ![]() GO MUSTANGS!
Re: Will Ford
I hadn't heard about discipline problems but I'd heard tech fans think he has NFL talent but i've heard hes not the most earnest of students
Re: Will Fordhere's a little suggestion-if you are going to get on a message board and state that you have heard a kid committed a criminal act by assaulting his girlfriend post some confirmation or don't post anything at all. I did a pretty extensive google search and didn't find anything. Not saying it didn't happen-just saying you are spreading some pretty significant rumors that should be supported.

Re: Will FordVery true, Stallion. His former girlfriend waitresses at a local restaurant that my wife and I frequent. She had just started working there and one of the other waitresses that we are friends with introduced us. The waitress (friend of ours) is quite forthcoming with information and let it slip that the other girl was a former girlfriend of Ford but they had broken things off and he was leaving the team secondary to the abuse issues and mounting disciplinary problems. Ford's ex came to the table in the midst of the conversation and seemed upset that the other girl had mentioned it but confirmed what she had said. As far as the formal charges and your extensive Google search, I can't comment.
Re: Will FordWill ford is a very good corner. Good not elite speed and is very physical. He covers well and can make the interception but he isn't a ball hawk, but will play well in run support.
We were sad he couldn't work it out at Tech but this guy just can't get it together. Has really bad anger problems and loses control in games, cost us the UT game last year. We still would like to have him because if he keeps developing he is a mid to late draft pick kind of talent but he doesn't care about grades and blows up too easy.
