June Jones email request for 10% more

Was anyone else offended by the recent email on behalf of June Jones requesting an additional 10% donation for SMU athletics? I think the thing that bothered me was that he said he was the coach of my team. If I've observed anything during Jones's tenure is that he cares not for SMU and the traditions that made SMU before he was weaned from his mother's teat. Those things that made MY SMU are conveniently discarded for whatever June thinks is cooler, i.e. geldings and black jerseys. I'm happy to pay my donation for my seats in 103. Honestly, I'd love to give an extra ten percent to SMU Athletics, but I think at this point I'd rather give it to rec sports or the band. Until June demonstrates that he gives two whits about the SMU fan that has stuck it out through thick and then, I won't be giving any more than absolutely necessary to get my tickets. Any additional donation requests will be made to other areas of the university.

Got the email. Was not offended. Was able to apply the additional donation required to add tickets as my 10%.

Bought two extra in the cheap seats. Mc club gets their g that is all. Would have gave$ 3500 for a trip in the plane but don't have enough zeros in my account to bid with the big boys. O LORD!

Not offended at all by the email. JJ has taken SMU football to levels we have not seen around here in over 20 years. Back to back bowl games and national attention in a few short years is amazing. I am glad to give an extra 10% and contibute by attending games and trying to bring as many people as possible to the games with me. If you want to compete on a national level then it is going to take more money. The football tickets are really cheap so quit complaining about everything and contribute a little more.

I think you are reaching. It's very well documented that I don't like geldings or black jerseys either, but I don't see how June's affinity for large gender-confused horses ridden by cowboys or the color black affect the FACT that he is SMU's football coach.

Is SMU your team? Yes.
Is June Jones the coach of SMU? Yes
Therefore, June Jones is the coach of your team.

If I were you, I'd give 10%, and tell them that you'll raise your donation even more if you could recognize your team. I wouldn't be offended by June Jones calling himself the coach of SMU. That's just the truth.
