Not so sure we can take much credit. Of course the complaining on PF hasn't hurt, but think about where SMU stood in the thoughts of the potential Div 1 players in Texas vs California. The Texas kids all new of SMU and overall it was not too favorable. For the most part the Texas kids that would give SMU serious consideration were those that were not getting other Div 1 offers. Contrast that to California. In California the kids did not know anything about SMU and therefore did not have a negative opinion. On the other hand they new about Coach Jones - he had just taken Hawaii to the Sugar Bowl. Thus we could have better success in Cali than TX. Now three years later and two bowls, a division championship, and projections of conference championships and BCS bowls and SMU looks a lot more interesting to Texas kids. Not spending to much energy in Texas at first was just smart. We keep on wining and we will be competing in Texas and everywhere else for the best players. GO MUSTANGS
