A&M: Too much hype?

I know A&M has made some adjustments and are on the uptick but a preseason prediction @ #11 still seems a little high to me. Anyone else agree? I think we can ambush these fools with the first game.
I'm thinking about making the trip for the opener...who else is planning on it?

Rooster,
I'm with you. They are much imporved but #11 is a little high. I think our guys are going to be a little intimidated walking into Kyle Field the first game out of the box. Not saying we don't have a chance but playing in front of a crowd that they will have may get our guys looking like a bunch of deer in the headlights.

Hopefully having opened at Tech last season will help.

I've seen them picked as high as #7. Should be a great challenge for our guys

Don't think they're a Top 10 team. But not counting on us to 'shock the world' at Kyle Field, either.
Looking forward to the game, nevertheless. Especially since it's been moved to 6:30 pm.

Are any of you guys going to the game? It's been since high school (mid 90's) that I have been to a game in College Station and I would love to start the season off right by seeing the Mustangs hang one on them at Kyle Field. But you are right, with all the hype, the crowd is going to be amped and it could be interesting.

Would not miss it. This is a chance to play a former SWC member from the big 10 (I mean the big 12 with 10 left) and hope we have a chance to win. I don't think playing at Kyle Field will be that big of a deal for our guys except to some extent the noise. The place hasn't been that big of a deal for many other teams for a first game. It is really no different than playing at Tech. JJ certainly knows how to prepare for a game like this and will have them ready to play....But, I'm not saying we will win. No question this A&M offense will be the best offense we will play all year and their WR will be a huge test for our rebuilt secondary. Just show up for the chance to play them. It should be a fun atmosphere and an excellent game.

I don't know their roster changes but they won their last 4 regular season games - OU, Tech, Baylor, Nebraska, and Texas.
Pretty good if you ask me. Top 15. Same QB back next year.

A&M is perenially overrated. Not saying we are going to cream them or anything, but the two programs are close.
I also don't think that crowd will affect our experienced team that much.

checking on the possibility of having some kind of get-together prior to the game...my house is about 7 miles from Kyle, and when the wind is right and the Aggies are winning, you can hear the yelling. Sunday is a 'work day' for me, but if I can cobble something together, I will let the hive-mind know...
Kyle will be LOUD...think Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge loud. The Aggies are not overlooking SMU, from talking to a couple of players that go to our church, but have had a history of very slow starts under Sherman. The real kicker is whether we can stay in the game 'til the 4rth quarter by containing their rushing game...they are very deep at RB, with talent across the board at that position.
If we get freshman Padron, we will score big...if we get last year, it will be over by half.
figure on 90 degrees at kickoff, cooling to a manageable 88 by the 4rth quarter

Man, I hope you're right - on both counts.
Yes, we have a veteran team, but that's quite an atmosphere down there, especially when you add in the fact that it's going to be about 167 degrees down there. Plus, we're older, but we'll still have a lot of young guys playing.

We will be there. Some going Sat afternoon and some Sun morning. Should be an electric atmosphere in that stadium and one of these days June Junes is going to pull off an upset
of one of these big name teams we play.
