Didn't he recently say he wasn't interested in the ND job? Can't imagine Illinois could lure him if that's the case

if he went to ohio state he wouldn't have to change coats. so you have to take that into consideration.

Not sure Illinois is a big enough step for him...

Not to mention the state has no money to pay him with...

Can't imagine his wife would want to leave Dallas shopping behind for Champaign

Typically that means the school/organization let him know he wasn't a finalist, and allows him to save face by bowing out. There is no way he turns down being AD at a school where he had tons of success.

A lack of interest, or when a candidate "withdraws his name from consideration" and pledges a lasting affection for his current gig, it sometimes (not always) means the job was offered to someone else. I'm not saying that's what happened with Steve-O and Notre Dame, but that often is the case.

If he is the top choice of the higher-ups at Illinois, I would have to believe they could come up with a sufficient offer. But at the moment, his name in that story is nothing more than speculation, right?

we will lose him eventually - but not to Illinois - thats a step down and the town is not inhabitable. Momma and kids have gotten used to Dallas. It will take more to get them out of here.

If ND had offered he was gone - but he hadnt done enough here at the time to get that gig.

Considering what he spent on his office (while preaching poverty and asking us for more money), it had better be nice.
