Re: Shaping Future Irish Schedulesmy favorite part of the article:
when discussing the possibility of scheduling TCU "Scheduling a series might be a nice gesture, since the Horned Frogs are essentially handing Notre Dame's basketball program one or two extra wins per year."
Re: Shaping Future Irish SchedulesHe sure has a high opinion of Notre Dame. I thought ND was a basketball school?
GO MUSTANGS!
Re: Shaping Future Irish SchedulesJesus, I would LOVE to see a 1-and-1 with Notre Dame, especially if we are ranked. That would be one game we could absolutely move to a larger venue and have interest in. Steve would absolutely earn his paycheck by making that happen.
Re: Shaping Future Irish SchedulesHow about this comment?
"We should play schools that share our vision of student-athlete, which is why I like playing the academies, and Stanford. I also like the Rice, SMU, TCU (maybe Vanderbilt and Northwestern) idea, but laugh at Miami, Texas, Alabama, Oklahoma, and the ilk. We should NEVER play 'football factories' who barely graduate their athletes or do so by giving them 'passes' through their classes. We are an independent; let's use that to our advantage."
Re: Shaping Future Irish SchedulesToo good to be true! Fingers crossed
Re: Shaping Future Irish SchedulesThe reason ND has that ridiculous TV contract is because of its years, or decades, as a football factory. Yes, it has some very good academic programs, but don't suggest that when it was competing for championships (or when it was even relevant in the national polls) that all of those star athletes went there because of the school's English department. ND was a football factory. Now that it can't compete on those levels, it is trying to strengthen its stance as an academics-first university? Please.

Re: Shaping Future Irish SchedulesCouldn't agree more. The Irish won't admit it, but they would love to return to "football factory" status.
Re: Shaping Future Irish SchedulesHow awesome would a home and home be, with us playing them in Arlington at Jerryworld?
Re: Shaping Future Irish Schedules
Right on! How would this be a bad thing? ND bashing aside, SMU would get some exposure in the Midwest which would be a great thing. I'm sick of having to explain what an SMU is to these Domers.
Re: Shaping Future Irish Schedules
Not as good as playing in Ford. I'm not interested in driving out to Arlington to give Jerry $75 to park and pay $150+ for a ticket when I've got a nice setup close to home on the Blvd and season tickets at Ford. When the frogs played there last year, it was funny to see them all claim how great it was but then complain about the cost. Obviously, you play wherever you have to in order to get the game. JMHO
Re: Shaping Future Irish Schedules
A-freakin'-men!
Re: Shaping Future Irish Schedules
Fine. Play 'em in the Cotton Bowl old-school style, or maybe somewhere else. There are other options. But do whatever it takes to get them on the sked, especially if we have the team to beat them.
Re: Shaping Future Irish SchedulesI'm all for it so long as the game at jerryworld is a Notre Dame home game and we dont give up a blvd and game at Ford
Re: Shaping Future Irish SchedulesThere's no way ND would schedule to play us in our 30,000 seat stadium. MAYBE the Cotton bowl, but I think if they're making a trip to TX they're either playing in austin, College Station, or at Jerryworld. If we wont play them there, I bet TCU will.
