I wonder if we could pry any of their seniors away this year that could come in and contribute immediately? Feel bad for those guys

thus the most recent NCAA mantra "now we are going to get tough with violations"...

I feel SO much safer now that the NCAA is with the program.

Now you can really make an argument to a kid in this Class that USC is the wrong place for him to be. I think it was short-sided for USC to thumb its nose at the NCAA by signing such a huge class. Take your puishment and move down the Road. If appeal had been granted then use those scholarships this year. But a kid entering USC this year will suffer the full effects when their numbers go down. These scholarship limitations will have a definite negative affect on the program even if USC keeps signing the same type of 4 and 5 stars. This is similiar to the scholarship reductions OU and SMU(prior to DP) suffered and both were headed down. Count 3-4 years from now and USC will be facing a tough rebuilding job.

Doubt they'll get those guys now. Who would want to go there? The other Pac-12 schools must be downright giddy now. Perhaps UCLA and Neuhesel were right all along with that newspaper ad- The football monopoly in LA is offically over.

Not really unexpected but the resulting scholarship limits are already taking their toll.

This is a good read USC's appeal denied

The Trojans already have eight players committed to join next year's class, per various reports, with one -- top local lineman Max Tuerk -- giving his verbal commitment on Wednesday morning, in fact. That leaves only seven open spots for the maximum 15-player class, per NCAA-mandated restrictions that will now come into play next season and stay active until 2015.

Also beginning next season is a 75-man overall scholarship limit for the roster, which will make for even more squeezing. As of this writing, to our best guess, USC plans to have 82 players on scholarship next season, with 58 spring-roster players, 21 newcomers and one returner (receiver Brice Butler).

Only 13 of those players will exhaust their eligibility in 2011, giving USC 69 scholarship players for the 2012 season plus a new class of newcomers -- and they must somehow fit that into the 75-man limit.

That's what the Trojans will be dealing with, along with a sure-to-come bevy of complaints from boosters and fans who took issue with Haden's non-fighting strategy concerning the appeal.

Oh, and the whole "free agency" thing Kiffin talked about last year. That's in effect again, giving every one of the country's FBS schools an opportunity to recruit USC's 13 seniors to transfer and immediately play in new locations.

It's unlikely it will have as big an impact this time as it did last summer -- anyone who can transfer now could have last year and chose not to -- but, then again, even one senior departure would likely register as a sizable loss for the Trojans.

I'm sure USC wishes it were a member of the Teflon coated SEC now!

The NCAA needs to get real about significant violations. I am not jumping up and down celebrating but I also think the penalties were appropriate. What will be more interesting to me is what the NCAA does with OSU. USC cheated and knew about it. OSU cheated, know about it and lied about it.

Now will the NCAA do anything to the a truly sacred nut (cow) of the football world?

I read an article a couple of weeks ago (can't find it now), that said all of the NCAA's allegations are towards Treacle instead of the University. The NCAA showed their hand. They don't want Ohio State, they want Treacle. Ohio State will probably skate with a "you should have done better" letter. If Treacle's suspension goes a full year or more, then they will just hire another big time coach and go on with business as usual.

Sorry for USC, but this situation should cause some of their recruits, that are interested in SMU, to further realize that playing in JJs offense makes even more sense now.

Over? Until Slick Rick can beat USC on the field, it remains a joke of an ad.

Did you read the report? When does the (questionable) knowledge of one RB coach equal the entire university?
