Heading into his second season at SMU, Mike O'Guin was looking forward to facing some of his former high school teammates in the Mustangs' season opener at Texas A&M, maybe as the Ponies' starting nose tackle. Those dreams were erased April 13 when he ripped up knee ligaments while rushing the passer in spring workouts.

Now, after reconstructive surgery, O'Guin is on the way back. He visited with PonyFans.com to discuss his pre-injury optimism, his emotions after he got hurt, and his approach to the rehab process that lies in front of him.

Enjoy!

Terrific story — sounds like he has his focus right. Thanks for keeping us up to date.
Good luck, Mike. Rehab is a long, tough process, but you'll get through it and be stronger and better for the experience. Best of luck.

I wish Mike the best. It sounds like he's got his head around this thing.
