More surgery for Mustang DB

For the second time in seven months, SMU cornerback Keith Robinson underwent abdominal surgery Thursday, a procedure he said should allow him to return to the field in plenty of time to take part in SMU's preseason workouts.

"Yeah I'm feeling good now," Robinson said. "I basically got the same surgery that I had done last October but instead of using mesh, the doc just went in and stitched everything up."

"Everything" means Robinson had double hernia surgery, one on each side of his abdomen, and also had his right abductor muscle — at the top of his thigh on the inside of the leg — reattached. The recovery time, Robinson said, will be less than two months.

Robinson, who will be a junior in the fall after playing in 22 games in 2008 and 2009 before sitting out the 2010 season because of his abdominal injury, said the doctor who operated on him said that "when he looked at my MRI, he was really surprised that I was able to go through spring ball, considering how bad the injuries were. But the recovery time is only three to six weeks, so I'll definitely be ready for (preseason) camp.

"I'm just relieved that my injuries are all fixed now."

That just sounds like a painful injury, especially considering the position he plays. Backpedaling and then opening up and spinning to chase in a dead sprint ... I'm kind of with the doctor, in the sense that it's hard to believe he worked out all spring.
Here's to your health and a quick recovery, Keith.

He really has had a rough go of it.
Hope karma deals him a good hand and he has a huge season this year.
