Sturdivant named to U.S. National Team

Former SMU safety Joe Sturdivant is among 39 players selected to play for the 2011 U.S. Men’s National Team in football in the fourth International Federation of American Football (IFAF) Senior World ChampionshipJuly 8-16 in Austria.

Sturdivant is playing strong safety and part-time running back for the Catania Elephants in Cicily, Italy ... and is the team's defensive coordinator and interim head coach.
The Elephants will play in the Italian Football League semifinals June 26. The championship game is July 9 in Parma, Italy.

Joe was always the smartest person on the field when he was at SMU. Good for him.

Joe's father has passed away years back, but I beleive he played football at SMU. not sure if he was a coach

There was a rumor that he was going to Baylor to join back up with Bennet and Gush as a GA, but I believe that is still a rumor at this point.

This is a question for former football players.
How many of you participated, on any level, in an American football comptition where the top two teams played five games in nine days total time?
July 8 - 16.
