ALL GRIT. NO QUIT. The 2009 SMU Mustangs

So I had been waiting to see if SMU would release a DVD of this... and then for a while it looked like it would be a Pony Excess DVD bonus feature (but we couldn't get the worldwide DVD rights issue squared away in time)... here it be in all of it's luscious HD glory:

Runs 31 mins. so "getcha' popcorn ready".

Come on, don't ruin it by quoting Terrell F-ing Owens.

You and your crew did a hell of a job on that.

We need 2011 to be the encore season we had hoped 2010 would be. Padron in Hawaii Bowl form would be nice...and would help alot...(Duh). :D 8)

Hahahaha!!! Love it!

There's nothing better than quoting Terrell Owens!!!! "Who can make a play? I can! Who can make a play? I can!" ... "I love me some me!"

That guy is a quote factory. Love him or hate him, he's always funny. I mean it's his pretense that makes him so. What he says just comes out as such pretentious a-hole jabber... but you just love it, esp. when breaks out that million-watt smile. Love him or hate him (again), but he's been good for the NFL.

...

And speaking of quotes and Terrell Owens:

"OWENS! OWENS! OWENS! OWENS! OWENS!" -- when SF won a playoff game early in his career. I'm all about classic radio calls and that one is hard to beat of an announcer just repeating one word:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzThn8pkpC0

Bad Audio. Bad Video. Great Call.

Wish I could find a better version of that. Never been an SF fan.... but still "Owens! Owens! Owens!" is one of those great calls. Those that just stay with you.

Sticking in Northern Cal... "and the Bears have won!":

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfebpLfAt8g

---

And bringin' it back home -- there is always this one!!!!!

"Block up front, men. Block up front!"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nKFDCD8WK4

"I was about to puke all over Ted Gangi."

Totally. But not to me!!! I knew that was going to happen. I kept saying it about Article 19 (which ended up as Pony Excess) ... "And we'll have our happy ending Hawaii!"

Thanks, man -- all of the credit in the world goes to my crew. They kick [deleted]!!!

Frankly I was gunning for both eyes, but I'll take one!!! ;)

I hope it never will.

Yup. And that's basically how I got my bowl ring. As I am told, they used to show this to incoming/potential recruits.

The 1981 season:

My notes on the video as posted on the Vimeo site:

I was asked by June Jones to put together this video for an event wherein Ron Meyer was the keynote speaker.

Self review: a lackluster editing job. (My apologies.)

I put this together in one day while working on Pony Excess and I didn't want to take one of our "pros" (editors) off of their work as we were under the gun with ESPN.

That being said, ENJOY! Plus, look at that DEFENSE!!! We wanted to show more of it in Excess but, sadly, we had to cut all of our defense love for time.

AND in case you missed it, I posted this more than a year ago now:

http://vimeo.com/11247673

(Perhaps I should start new threads for both of those vids... but that an wait until tomorrow. But feel free to start new ones yourself - anyone out there who might want to do so!!!)

that 1981 video is awesome. Love the NFL Films music and the play by play of Brad Sham. Definitely deserving of its own thread. Made my week to watch that first thing on a Monday.

Done and done. Glad you liked it!

I also used some old NFL Primetime music! (I miss that show. The real one... not the pseudo-NFL Primetime they do these days.)

Excellent video, top notch especially given the short turnaround time on the editing. Very well done, and nice to have more of our past on video.
