OSU has dropped its investigation of auto sales because, by golly, the dealer made money on the sales. And it just doesn't look like they gave the cars away for sports memorabilia so everything is alright in Columbus. http://www.zanesvilletimesrecorder.com/ ... /106220313Whitewash? What whitewash?

The Sports Illustrated article I saw also said the state of Ohio's BMV approved, or felt, anyone can drive a dealer plated car for whatever period of time, as long the dealer gave its ok. Gee doesn't everyone have access to this type of loaner to test drive for months?

Hey, they checked DMV records (which don't show loaners), and got affidavits from salesmen swearing that they never loaned out any cars.

Lets see, Columbus, Ohio, state capital and home of the Buckeyes. State Bureau of Motor Vehicles employees couldn't have attended OSU. Nah. Nothing here to see. Move along... Move along.
Oh, does the state capital and the state's main land grant university occur in any other location in the US?

New NCAA rule. No profit, problem. Profit, no problem. I bet, and I am purely speculating, that any sophisticated car dealer can show a paper profit if they so desire. The selling cars isn't like selling pumpkins by the side of the road. It is complex and has the capability to hide stuff in the chaos of the transactions.

Am I the only one that wonders from where the money comes for the full, non discounted payments. That is the trail I would like to have backtracked.

I'm sure W.O. Bankston actually made money too! Seriously, I don't think there is much coincidence that his dealership failed after the DP. I'm sure that those in the know bought from Bankston and paid sticker, etc. just because of what he was doing for our boys.
This ain't rocket surgery here.

I am really glad that OSU was very detailed in their investigation. I am so relieved that we can now put this whole terrible episode behind us. I was worried that the University was going to railroad these poor, innocent youths. Knowing that they spent an entire 12 or 13 minutes reading someone else's report, sets my mind at ease. I know the state was more interested in making sure that all of the taxes were paid, so it is good to know their attempt to persecute innocent buckeye players fell flat.
Now Ohio State can go on with business as usual. As a college football fan, I am so relieved.
