Too bad UNC's basketball program wasn't caught in that mess. Can't stand Roy Williams.

For those in a gmabling mood. The over/under:

40 Scholarships over 5 seasons (8 per year)
4 year postseason ban
vacate all wins from '08 - '10
6 years probation
Players will not be allowed to transfer penalty free.

Thoughts?

And that's the #1 reason Davis hasn't been fired here. If just a drop of this had fallen into the basketball program, Davis would have been let go immediately.

UNCC should be very scared. They punish UNC and leave big Blue alone. My guess is that they'll lose a few scholarships forfeit some games in 2008-2010 era. Be on probation for four years and lose a year of post-season (when they will stink anyway). Nothing to see here, move along.

I think you're exactly right, and that's sad, because when it comes to actual X's and O's, I have always thought Davis is a very good football coach — far better at coaching his sport than Williams is at his. RoyBoy has had some of the most talented teams in the last 30 years, and has rarely exceeded — or even lived up to — expectations. One of the highlights of every spring is watching him (whether at Kansas or UNC) hanging his head and saying, "gawsh, I just luv these kids, and I feel so bad for them losing to (fill in the name of some lower-ranked school that doesn't have half the overall talent)."

I see a major 2 year probation with limitations of one scholarship. Come on, we are talking about the NCAA. Since when has the NCAA been serious about cheating? Certainly not since 1987. OSU, Cam Newton, Oregon and this all deserve the usual sweep under the rug treatment the NCAA is famous for.

UNC isn't the cash cow that OSU and Oregon are. My guess is that they will pay for OSU's and Oregon's transgressions.

It's hard to tell. Kelley, Pearl, and Tressell were all just STUPID. I mean seriously, Tressell just walks down the hall and tells someone about the tattoos, and this scandal comes and goes and he still works there, life goes on. Pearl not much different. I don't know what was going through Kelley's head.

If anyone thinks UNC isn't a cash cow, they have never stepped foot outside of Texas. UNC is to college basketball what Alabama is to football. Here are the top 5 merchandise sales in 2010 by school: 1. Texas, 2. Alabama, 3. Florida, 4. LSU, 5. North Carolina

UNC will get a slap on the wrist because they are "in the club". These days, the only penalty seems to be on the coach, and in this case, they can't pin anything on ole' Butch davis. Tressel and Chip Kelly weren't so lucky.
