Not a Richie Whitt fan. At all. But he did a feature story for this week's Observer (out tomorrow, it looks like on newsstands) about Klemm. http://www.dallasobserver.com/2011-07-0 ... like-that/ Here's the top of the story, but click above to read it all: He's now the answer to two football trivia questions:
1. Who was the New England Patriots' top draft choice in 2000, selected four rounds and 156 picks before a quarterback named Tom Brady?
2. Who is the SMU recruiting coordinator suddenly somehow luring blue-chip inner-city players from the West Coast to tony University Park?
It's Adrian Klemm, the guy with the three Super Bowl rings, even more tattoos and the words and wisdom to convince nationally coveted prospects to play at SMU, and to confound recruiting rivals by making Dallas an attractive alternative.
"He's a winner, plain and simple," SMU head coach June Jones says of Klemm, during a break from his vacation in Hawaii. "We gave him a chance and he's obviously paying big dividends already. He's got that special knack of connecting with kids, and we're going to be a better football team because of it."

Good article and glad to have it on Pony Fans for all to see. I'm certainly looking forward to some more 3 and 4 Star Cali. recruits to go along with quality SMU commit Robert Lewis.

Great story...in the Dallas Observer????? wow....they must have run out of City Council members and politicians to bash...and for sure no more bashing the Dallas 'Mav Wrecks'... I like the selling point of SMU being a 40 year decision, not a 4 year one!

Terrific tribute to Klemm, and his ability to show what can be achieved if you put your mind to it. Loved the last line of the article which shows his ethics. PONY UP !

Might be signs of no Cowboys training camp news?

Should there be no early NFL games, I hope we have a well thought out plan to capitalize on the football void.
Great article.

Some times I day dream of a bucket list of people I'd like to meet. Coach Klemm is on it. Nice article about him.

He is really reaching out. I like this part of the article.
"I can relate to them because I was them," Klemm says. "Like me back then, they've never been anywhere. Some of them have no idea where Dallas is. They think it's all horses and cows. And there are schools that negatively recruit against us by telling them that our classes are too hard or that Dallas doesn't like black people. But once I get them here to SMU, the area and Coach Jones sells itself. I tell them that they're not making a four-year decision, but a 40-year decision. Football will end. But when they get their degree from SMU, the sky will always be the limit."

This article tells a great story about Klemm as well as SMU's long term commitment to recruiting in Texas and California. We should be excited about the sustainability and long term success of SMU's FB program with Klemm's efforts to make SMU a very attractive national destination, which is on the rise.
Excellent!
