To: Mr. XXXX

Another exciting college football season is rapidly approaching, and by all indications, the SMU Mustangs will be in the thick of the Conference USA title chase once again!

As you are probably aware, a New Year’s Day Bowl game was resurrected in legendary Cotton Bowl Stadium last year, with Texas Tech defeating Northwestern in a thriller, 45-38, in the inaugural TicketCity Bowl.

Now it’s Conference USA’s turn to provide an opponent to face the perennially powerful Big Ten Conference in this year’s second annual TicketCity Bowl, and SMU could possibly be the fortunate team to fill that role!

Who will represent the Big Ten in this year’s Dallas-based post-season game? Prognosticators are having a tough time deciding which powerhouse will be coming to Cotton Bowl Stadium, with the Penn State Nittany Lions, Michigan Wolverines, Iowa Hawkeyes, Michigan State Spartans, Illinois Fighting Illini, and Purdue Boilermakers all having been selected in various pre-season polls.

This year’s game is on January 2 (due to the 1st being on Sunday) and you will want to order your tickets now to assure the best premier seats available! Cotton Bowl Stadium recently went through a multi-million dollar renovation and is now one of the top true football stadia in the country, keeping the heritage and originality of the historical facility while undergoing a modernization process with state-of-the-art technology.

Selecting the exact seats you want is easy! Simply visit the official bowl website (www.TicketCityBowl.com), click on the “Purchase Tickets” tab, and follow the simple instructions! Or, please feel free to call the ticket office at (972) 444-2550 and order your tickets by phone.

A new college football tradition has started with the return of a post-season intercollegiate bowl game in Dallas, paralleling the re-emergence of SMU as a national college football power under Coach June Jones. We hope you enjoy both this coming season.

Respectfully,

Tom Starr

President & CEO

So, they really think people are just going to go ahead and purchase tickets to a bowl game that there's a remote chance we might get into? Great maketing ploy, I guess.

If I buy tickets and the TicketCity Bowl doesn't happen, do I get my money back? I also would suggest they sell some ocean front land located in the Nevada desert as a bonus.

If we are bowl-eligible, I would say that there is a better than 40% chance that we end up at the TicketCity Bowl.

Armed Forces is at Ford. BYU is locked in (unless they aren't bowl eligible, of course). They will play a CUSA team to be named after the season.

My best guess is that SMU would be sent over to the Cotton Bowl, as it would bring more fans to that game than the other CUSA teams would. It also would bring more fans to the AF Bowl, but let's face it, the AF Bowl will not have an issue selling tickets with BYU involved.

I bought 4, two on the BIG TEN side, two on the CUSA side, and both on the 50 yard line row 6 and row 4 isle seats and two parking passes.

We think alike, you and I. Made a similar purchase. Someone will want to sit on the 50.
