When was the last time SMU entered a year with this high expectations for both its FB and BB teams? It has been a long time, maybe over 20 years, but it looks like we are finally getting there.
Top non-BCS football/basketball programs? To me it is pretty easy, outside of ND, its SMU and BYU.

usually i don't get excited about basketball until after football season is over.
this is definitely the first year I've had legitimate expectations and excitement for the basketball season before football season.

Much tougher schedule and some injuries ineligibles...I am hopin for same record as last year with a run in the cusa tourney

Don't forget tcu — they had a decent year last year, and they're not in a BCS conference, either.

I get excited about SMU basketball until it starts. After that it's pretty much a let-down.
