http://sportsbybrooks.com/Last month ESPN Programming VP Dave Brown, who oversees the Longhorn Network, said during an interview with ESPN Austin affiliate KZNX-FM that ESPN will broadcast high school football games inside and outside the state.
On July 14, the HOUSTON CHRONICLE reported that Longhorn Network partner ESPN will, according to Texas Athletic Director DeLoss Dodds, “select the games based on what they [Longhorn Network management] feel is best.â€

We're going to have to figure how this is a recruiting violation...certainly gives those guys a leg up on everyone else.

Arkansas sports talk guys were calling it a violation last week, but I believe at that time the high school games were rumored to be shown on the Longhorn network itself.

I guess I am wrong too, I thought we were talking about ESPN's Longhorn Network, not just director that will select the games.

It's obvious. A college can't show and distribute a players games - it is essentially acting as that players P.R., and that is expressly against NCAA rules. I have faith that this will be resolved well before the games ever hit the air.

http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/colleg ... o-sure.eceFrom a DMN story today:
Dodds said that UT has requested that ESPN make its high school scheduling choices without regard to Texas recruiting or commitments. Nor does he want out-of-state games televised involving any potential Texas recruit, something the Longhorn Network had floated as an idea.
He acknowledged that because the network was unprecedented, the NCAA had yet to formulate specific rules about what its allowed.

I would imagine some of the things we did that got us the Death Penalty were unprecedented, but the NCAA muddled through it.

Update late Wednesday.
http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/colleg ... olved-.eceCommissioner Dan Beebe announced a temporary compromise Wednesday. Telecasts of high school football games on the Longhorn Network are now on hold, pending decisions by the NCAA and the Big 12 about how to handle single-school and conference networks. The Big 12 also delayed the possibility of a conference game on the Longhorn Network, announced earlier this month as part of a side deal with Fox.
“It’s not going to happen until and unless the conference can make it happen with benefit to all and detriment to none,†Beebe said.
