I heard that June Jones has three camps in the Houston area. Smart move.
UH has two in the DFW area and last night Sumlin mentioned that this is what it takes and is indicative of the competitiveness for talent.
A fan complained that UH doesn't get enough attention in the DFW media. Sumlin responded that June Jones and Gary aren't real happy with Houston's coverage either. You just have to keep at it, doing radio shows, camps and let the fans do their part. Wins are a given.

Why would UH get any coverage in DFW, they're a Houston university at best? I don't get Sumlin's response, JJ and GP were happy UH doesn't get any coverage, or they aren't happy with their team's coverage either?

I assumed it was the latter. I can't imagine either JJ or GP give a crap about UH coverage in DFW.

I can't imagine June is happy with the coverage we get anywhere outside of the school's official website, Pony Fans, and Rivals.

We've gotten more preseason love this year than any I can remember. It's not even close. Some of the preseason press is way more optimistic than anything I would hope for. (The surprising number of articles hinting at BCS-busting, for example). Your national coverage is earned, not given. We are earning our accolades with improved on-the-field performance.

Probably meant local love.

Ding ding ding. JJ is doing what it takes to start getting better coverage in Houston and isn't, or shouldn't, be happy with the lack of coverage. Same with GP whose team was ranked in the top 3 and won the Rose Bowl. I agree that neither JJ nor GP could care less about UH's coverage. Main point is the 3 camps in Houston which I take it is a rather new development. Probably not something that Bennett was doing.

I think Bennett might have done E Tx camps but not statewide like JJ. Even so, most here think JJ could do a little more in TX and some don't think the staff is recruiting anywhere but CA. On thing I'd bank on is that we get a lot more aggressive everywhere with Klemm now the head of recruiting for the staff.
