The season, or at least camp, needs to start already. August is always the longest month of the year waiting for the games to kick off.

How long has it been that anyone called our schedule brutal? And not just brutal in a physical manner, but brutal cause we have a good team and the schedule could be brutal to our overall record. Nice to be in a highly competitive situation with the opportunity for really great things.

And we used to have Baylor.

I just hope we don't miss a bowl game due to this. It would not be good to miss a bowl game this early in the rebuilding process. Because the schedule isn't any better for a few years to come.

If we believe the program is moving in the direction Jones tells us it is, then don't you think some of the opponents are saying that about us? Why can't we win in Hattiesburg? We won in Greenville last year...

I am with you General. I just hope our schedule egos don't cost our bowl streak. That would severly damage our recruitng. We'll see though. What is your prediction for our teams record this year?

The only way we miss a bowl game is if we get hit hard by the injury bug. We figure to have at least 5 victories (UTEP, NW State, Memphis, Tulane, Rice) which means we just need to win 1 out of the remaining 7 to be bowl-eligible. I'd like to see lighter OOC schedules but this season a tough OOC slate shouldn't prevent us from going to a bowl.

McDermott is just as good as Padron. If Padron went down it wouldn't affect our season as much as if Banjo or JG Davis went down.

I wouldn't be as worried about Line getting injured if we still had Fields.

You are crazy if you think McDermott is as good as Padron.

I want a hard OOC.....we will never get to where we want to be with an easy OOC.

I consider myself to be a sunshiner in many respects but I would point out that KP was injured for much of last year and played anyway. Had JJ been as good we'd have seen him.

TCU did. But we need to build our talent base and go to about 5 bowl games in a row before we should think about a death row schedule IMO.

Part of our "brutal" schedule is that we play such tough games on the road. Next year we get USM, Houston, Tulsa, and TCU at home. UCF away. I am glad we have this schedule with our experienced linemen instead of next year, when there will be a load of seniors to replace. And we will be fine this year (7-8 wins) if Padron is on!
