Re: Texags topic

Wow it doesn't surprise me that those Ag heads have no friggin clue whats going on outside of College Station academically.....Wouldn't it be nice if SMU whupped them at their stadium on Sept 4th?.....

SMU really needs a good year in football and basketball to gain some attention from the media and media markets. Winning really opens up opportunity and we need to win and win often over the next few seasons.
There may be one other reason to consider a SMU type program. We are clean and if the SEC gets hit with NCAA scandals in a major way, then a clean program added to the conference may have significant PR value for the SEC. What better way to lead the SEC by example than to add a team that got caught, suffered the consequences and battled back doing it right?

Now, if Vandy and a couple of other schools like Ole Miss or Arky would exercise whatever veto power they have unless a private is added, you might see a SMU or TCU get added to the mix. Its a huge long shot. More likely is the formation of a conference with the crumbs that remain in the Big XII after A&M and OU depart and UT goes indy.

No this does not mean I think SMU is a viable candidate for the SEC, but I just do not think alumni base has any thing to do with market share in this instance.

Agreed, but they would argue that just having aTm on vs SEC would get them those Dallas tv's turned on.
