SMU-TCU moved back to Oct. 1?

Postby Mitch McConnell » Sun Jul 24, 2011 5:54 pm

I heard thru channels that this could happen because apparently the Amon Carter Stadium work crews and their schedule or something like that. It might be because of the lights.

Obviously, TV is in play here but has anyone else heard this? Can the TCU people speak to the validity of this?

Thanks

Why wouldn't they just move it to Ford or Jerryworld? If Ford, do two home games in Ft. Worth when its finished? We could easily get 40,000 plus at Jerryworld and build on the future.

Since we have not had rain in six months, they are ahead of schedule. The lights are already up. We also have another night game the Saturday before your game. We have heard nothing about moving any of the games.

I am surprised it does not get moved annually to Jerryworld.

I hope that SMU-TCU remains a home and home series and not moved to a neutral venue. I think the excitement on campus is special when these two meet.

It seems that all of TCU's home games will be day games this year. Something about construction & lighting at Amon Carter Stadium.

I'm just guessing, but with losing the TxTech and Boise State home games SMU is now our best home game by far and we need at least 1 good game on campus. Plus BYU is already playing us at Jerry's World.

I wouldve been okay with switching the game to Dallas if our schedule didn't get butchered at the last minute.

That makes sense. Perhaps in the coming years if we can get our [deleted] together and elevate our program closer to TCU's, a neutral venue like Jerryworld might be feasible.

Per Mark Cohen's (TCU SID) Twitter:
http://twitter.com/#!/tcusid/status/98101957503365120

Game has been moved to 2:30 pm on Saturday Oct 1. I assume CBS Sports will still carry it.

Two sources. My own TCU source just shot me a text message telling me so. Plus, one of the pay sites just put it up.

I didn't see Cohen's twitter but no big deal.

Great chance now for me to go. Woohoohoo!
