Heat when Camp OpensPerhaps not the hottest summer ever but sure close to it. In the summer of 1980, SMU changed two a days schedule to much earlier in the morning work outs and much later in the evening workouts to avoid the heat.
Any word/thoughts on how this year's Mustang two a days will be handled as related to the heat? Even though our depth has improved, we can ill afford causalities before the season due to heat related injuries or complications.
Re: Heat when Camp OpensThey should definitely change practice hours...
6am - only 85 degrees 8pm - a solid 104 degrees
Re: Heat when Camp OpensI've notice several folks suggesting we use our IPF. I wasn't aware that we have one. We was it completed? Is it for all sports or just football? And where is it located?
Re: Heat when Camp Opensso....if we had funding for an IPF, where would it be constructed?
Re: Heat when Camp OpensIf it's legal (who knows?), use Highland Park's facility...it's easy and free.
Go Frogs! Pony Up!
Heat when Camp OpensIpf will be done within 5 years. Sounds like a long time but when you consider all the construction it's not to bad.
Re: Heat when Camp Opensseriously...does anyone know where the site would be? Has the thought process gone that far?
Heat when Camp OpensYes... Parking lot behind frosh quad connecting to stadium...
Re: Heat when Camp OpensI don't know how much space is needed for an IPF but they should build it where UA Cine used to be--right next to the throwing practice fields. Probably wouldn't have to "Georgian" it up either on that side of Central.
Re: Heat when Camp OpensIf needed, I thought right now we can use Highland Park High School's IPF.
Re: Heat when Camp OpensWe'd have to work around the HP practices which begin on Monday.
Re: Heat when Camp OpensLast suggestion I heard is IPF would go where Westcott Field is located, and new soccer facility would be built on the site that now is the Pettus practice field.
Re: Heat when Camp OpensTime for SMU to go underground. I think the IPF could be some where under the Boulevard with big sky lights on the sides of the street. Maybe find some fossils like during the construction of the original AA facility at DFW. Some one will spring for a museum in which to display them.
I am not sure what Georgian sky lights would look like, but then the 1989 I.M. Pei entrance for the Louvre does not exactly match the original palace.
