Pony Level MC Donations now gets you diddly

Postby SmooBoy » Wed Aug 03, 2011 2:29 pm

So come to find out that my Pony Level status of giving no longer gets me in the Mustang Club tent. I must shell out $60 a game for my six season tix to eat. That just blows.

Based on my income, I gave what I could, and yet they take something away in the process. That, my friend, is what is weak.

It seems rather odd that the mustang club would DISCONTINUE a benefit they have offered in past years.

Was there a substantial change in their cost? Is this a ploy to try and up-sell donors to get to a higher level? Do we just have too many pony donors now? I would think they would want to get more people to the $1,000 mark.

That does blow because that was one of the reasons I was able to justify to the wife to join back in March. Sucks they changed it after I joined.

It takes $$ to run an athletic department and to compete at a high level. SMU will reward those who give at an exceptional level.

Given the level that you are at, there is nothing wrong with your benefits. I know you're upset. If it were me, I would understand.

The bottom line is that you contributed. We need more people of your level to stay in the base. We've set donation records the last two years. Let's keep it going.

Do what you can. But think about it, if you can feed a family. Of six, six games

I believe they changed it prior to last year, I seem to recall that. Was one of the reasons I stepped up my donation, I enjoy taking part in the Mustang Club tent.

So if one has 6 season tickets and all 6 tickets are used for all 6 games, then that is 36 total meals. At $10 a pop, that is $360 for the season to feed everyone at the Mustang Club tent. The Pony level is $250-499 donations. Mustang level, which includes the tent, is $500+. Say one up their donation from the minimum Pony level to the minimum Mustang level. That would be a $250 increase in Mustang Club donations. And meals are included. So it is possible to give more money to the Mustang Club and save $110 a year on meals.

Of course if 11 of the 36 opportunities are not used, then it is a break even situation of increase donation or $10 a meal. And if one doesn't uses 12 of 36 meal opportunities or more, then the increase donation is not a money saver.
