Are we allowed to discuss what June told us tonight about the kicking situation? It is one of the craziest things I've heard in a while. But may also be the most awesome!!

Since it involves this year's incoming freshman class it should be OK. Maybe "Pride" can do a story, I had five glasses of wine by then and I can't remember if was Argentina or Mexico.

At least give me a minute to proof my post...yea, Mexico. If I remember correctly, it could possibly one of those yarns that will be included in SMU history.

Let "Pride" write it.
This story is too good for me to do it justice.

I just PM'd Pride and related the story, asking him to write it up.

OK, I'll spill the beans. Just did some internet sleuthing and I think I figured it out. PP, if you are working on a story, please don't be mad at me...or just delete this thread.

So, someone mentions to June last night that they are worried about our kicking game, and June says, "So am I." But, he adds, they think they have found their guy. While watching the International American Football World Cup Championships (played this summer in Austria http://www.americanfootball2011.com/), they spotted a young kicker from Mexico nailing 58-yarders. Long story short, there was a scholarship opening, and he will most likely be the newest member of the SMU squad soon.

This article http://maximoavance.com/2011/06/17/decide-ir-al-mundial-aunque-le-cueste-su-lugar-en-autenticos-tigres/ is about the Mexico kicker Jose Carlos Mantos and mentions at the end that he has a chance to go and play at SMU, but will leave it up to God. Translated by Google:
Finally, in terms of its future did not comment as it has proposed to play for the SMU Mustangs, just simply said that their future rests with God.
Quick look at his Facebook page today and he states, "God is so great!" and "God, thank you for this".

So, Bienvenido a SMU?!?

It's possible, since they are both from Mejico. We will have to see...
